Today’s Tidbit 13.10.2015

The civil war between the Myanmar government and the Karen ethnic minority has been notoriously prolonged and deadly. Despite recent slowdown in conflict following a ceasefire agreement in 2012, landmines planted by both the government and the Karen ethnic rebels continue to severely injure and kill unsuspecting victims. Since the landmines take several years to degrade, and some cannot be picked up by metal detectors, they are still active today.
